can all gps systems get you home safely?

I just bought a car and now I am looking for a gps system that will take me to work and take me home safely. Do all gps systems do this and if so which type? Have you guys ever had a gps system that caused you to be lost?
When I mean "getting you home safely," I’m talking about does the GPS give you directions on how to get home.

GPS will work just fine if you update it regularly. As far as "getting you home safely" that’s up to you and how you drive. You might want to stick with the known brands.. TomTom, Garmin, Magellan.

I once got taken several miles out of my way with a TomTom, but it turned out that was because I did not update it for over a month. TomTom updates the satellite positions every week, to make it easier for the device to pinpoint your location. I have to connect it to the computer for this. Not sure about other brands.

    The can give you direction.

It is up to good driving practice and wit to make good use of what a GPS navigation says, and not to take what it says to literaly. If you live in a city, you will want one with Traffic.
